The emperor says that it would be safer to entrust the task to the imperial guards, but he also wants to make sure that the money reaches the border safely. Li begs the emperor to go, saying that she can protect herself in the midst of the chaos. She also says that she has been staying at the forbidden city because it feels like she is protecting the nation. She wonders if the emperor is trying to help her escape from the city, or if he is just trying to protect himself. She then goes outside of the city and asks why he keeps forgetting that he is now a lord. He says that he has been treating her nicely, and that he wants her to go to the port of jiangnan so that he can help her. Li wonders what fate has in store for her at the port.
