In this chapter, we learn that Ching Ming, the Ming Emperor's servant, is ill and will not be able to participate in the government's official business. He asks the lady gongshu, the wife of the emperor, to distribute the food to the servants so that he may return to his quarters. Ching Ming tells the lady that he has come to ask the emperor to cancel the arranged marriage between his daughter and the girl's cousin.
