The chapter opens with a flashback to the scene in which Dodo is being led away to the dungeon. He is being carried away by the guards, who are carrying food and drink for him to eat. The guards ask him if he would like to have dinner with them, and he replies that he would rather have it on his own. He then asks if they could carry the food, drink, and food into the dungeon and then eat in front of Dodo while he is watching. He thinks that this would be a great way to entertain Dodo, and the guards agree to do so.
