This chapter opens with a description of the new world, which is described as a "modern world" with "spiritual qi" . There are ordinary people who can use their spiritual qi to get stronger, and evil spirits that leave people after they die. The evil spirits can subdue them by borrowing the evil spirits' powers. The protagonist, who is called "piggy," explains that he is in the middle of a mission to avenge the deaths of Ling'er, her parents, and the other evil spirits. He is going to kill the heroine, "ruan mo," in order to do so. He tells the protagonist that he has two main missions to complete in this new world. First, he needs to kill "the evil souls" and "punish ruan mo." Then, he wants to "change" from a spirit to a human being so that he can complete the mission faster. He asks the protagonist if he will be able to meet "jiang li," the male lead from the previous world, so that the protagonist can "activate the hidden quest." The protagonist says that he will meet "xia ge," the evil spirit, and then the protagonist will have the opportunity to meet the villain.
