The next morning, Ling tells Zhuang that she has caught a pigeon and is going to deliver a letter to the emperor. She tells him that she and her new husband are still in love, but that he is still on the side of another man. Zhuang tells her that he has told the ringleader to kill him, so he will meet her. He tells her to get on her knees and tells her about the story of how he helped her to gain the throne. He says that in the original version of the story, she began to persecute him when she gained control over most of the soldiers. He adds that she is surrounded by dragons energy, but she is weak. She is just a "boorish woman" who wants to take over the throne from him. He asks Zhuang if he can stay in the city for a few days. He wants to drink with her and tease her. She says that she does not want to be so distant, and that she will forgive Zhuang for their friendship. She does not like being treated like a servant. She treats him like a concubine.
