In the palace, Ling tells the empress that she has married him, and that he is now her husband. She asks when he will kill her, and he says he is waiting for "the right time" . She begs him to cancel the mission, but he refuses, saying he will die for her if he does not ask him to kill her. She tells him that he can pay her back in a different way, by becoming his man. He tells her that he will have her killed when he has his way with him. He says that she will be ashamed to see him again, but she will not hate him.
