Ling and his disciple, feng-jue, are shocked to learn that their disciple has become a demon. They vow to kill the two of them and cleanse the name of their sect. Ling explains that the only way for the villain to be saved is to convert his demon qi into spiritual qi, which is a complete spiritual replacement power. The only way to do this is to use a single person to exchange his or her spiritual qi for the demon's spiritual qi. Ling is horrified at the idea of his disciple becoming a demon, but he is able to find a way to save him.
