The next morning, the gang tries to figure out a way to escape from the clutches of the monster, but Atropos refuses to help them. He tells them that he has risked his life in order to do what they asked him to do, and that he will kill the two waiters if they try to escape. He also reveals that the waiters were twins who he gave birth to when he was a child. Everyone tries to help him escape, but he refuses to eat the meat of the water monster. He begs them to trade cards, but they refuse. Finally, he manages to escape, and he has only nine cards left in the arcana system.
