In this chapter, we learn that Bella has lost a lot of weight since she left the Amazon tribe. She's now a delicate-looking girl with a tiny waist. The narrator tells us that Bella's father still refuses to allow her to return to the tribe. He's still refusing to allow Bella to go back to Amazon because he doesn't want to risk her life in the jungle. He tells her that he's found a way to get her back to the city. He even gives up his "lovable chubby body" for her. He says that he can't risk his life to go to the jungle because he likes her so much. He also says that she has the right to go wherever she likes, even if it means risking her life.
