In this chapter, we are introduced to Cai-Li, a young woman who has just returned from a trip to Europe. She is a member of the "Women's Chorus," a group of female artists who perform a number of male-centric pieces for female audiences. Cai-Ling tells us that she has come to Europe because she wants to be with her friends and family, but she is also interested in learning more about the world outside of Europe, especially about women's roles in society.
