The chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which Caixian tells his sister that he has been "scalded" by his brother. He tells her that he is now in the city and that he must apply the healing herb to his wounds. Caixians are not used to living in the big city, so they do not know how to apply the herb to their wounds.
