About This Chapter
The narrator begins this chapter by asking the young man why he is crying. The narrator tells him that crying will not help him. He tells him to avoid unnecessary behavior and focus only on those that are "strictly required and efficient". The young man tells the narrator that he has stopped taking pills for food because of the accumulation of trash in his apartment. He says that today is a Sunday and that he must do the recycling that day. He explains that pet bottles should not go in the "plastic bag" compartment and that there should be a separate compartment for bottles. He also says that it is more efficient to lock the door when he returns from the recycling than to enter the apartment every time he returns. He suggests that the lock should be an additional one on the entrance to the apartment, so that it will be easier for someone to enter while he is gone. He then says that he will leave after he completes the recycling. He asks the narrator if he came out to do the same thing, and the narrator replies that he did not expect anything but that he was "a bit sad". The narrator says that the amount of garbage he brought was far more than his own, and that the recycling was too "inefficient". He says he will be leaving after he finishes the recycling, but that there is still a lot to be done. He thanks Suhun for helping him. Suhun says that
