The chapter opens with a soliloquy in which the narrator laments that the office of the company is too extravagant. He has gone to see Lingwei and his grandfather to discuss whether or not he should make a public announcement about the company's new product. He feels that he has gained too much popularity from the incident, and wishes that he had invested in some of the movies that were to be produced for the company. The narrator thanks the company for its reputation, but he still feels nervous. The company invites some of its star ambassadors to demonstrate the new product, and the narrator feels that it is like a virtual reality. He wonders how it feels to pinch Yun's face, and he wonders if the virtual reality is real. He tells the company that the amulet he made for the two of them could only buy them two years, and that it would take ten years for the amulet to become effective. He asks if there is anything wrong with him. The next chapter begins with the narrator explaining that he is wearing the marriage amulet to connect his fate with his grandfather's. He says that he must wear it all the time, so that his fate and his destineds can connect. He does not believe that this is the case.
