The chapter opens with a flashback to a time when the Panda family was living in Mongolia and Panda's father went bald and his mother shaved her head in an effort to keep her hair healthy. The flashback shows that the Pandas were forced to marry each other by their families, and that Panda was tricked into the marriage by his parents. He tells his father that he will not marry him, and he tells his mother that she faked her illness in order to get him to marry her. The Pandas tell their father that they are best friends and that they will die for each other, but that brothers do not sleep together no matter how far apart they are. The father tells his son that he can fake his engagement if he needs to solidify his position in the family, but he does not want to get his daughter involved in the process. He also tells his daughter that she can pick 10 things she likes, but she can only do so if she has enough money to do so. She tells him that she will be his female companion from now on, even though she will not be able to marry him
