In this chapter, we learn that we're introduced to Sam again. He's still in the hospital, and he's worried that his father won't accept him, even if he were the perfect vampire. He wants to go to dinner with Shmoop's family, but his father doesn't want to see him, so he can't leave. He also wants to meet his parents, which he'll be able to do when he gets back to the hospital. Sam's not sure what to make of this whole meeting thing, but he does know that it's going to be a major milestone in his relationship with his wife.
