About This Chapter
"Coexistence" is the title of this chapter, and it opens with a conversation between the two young men. The young men discuss the fact that they have not yet received the information on the powers of the black man. They wonder if it is still too early for them to receive the news. They are both surprised that the man is still alive, and they wonder why he is asking them to become his "man in black." They are also surprised that he is still passing out, and wonder where his knockers have been. They feel that he has invited them to "become a god." They wonder why they should not just do it, and the young men decide that it is better for them than for him to hide it from them. They decide that they can live with him the same way they always have when he is a god, even if the burden on his body will increase. They also decide that if they do not know what will happen, they should try and find out. They do not want to take any responsibility for anything that happens to the man if he does not act. They agree that they will always be watching over each other, and that they would like to have fun if it were not fun. They both agree that in 60 years, they will run out of life expectancy, and if they live to their natural life expectancy they should accept it.
