The next morning, the mayor of the village wakes up. He's happy to see his old friend. He tells her that he's just come to help the village. He says that he left the island because he wanted to do something good for the people. He also says that since he ran into her, he'd like to tell her to stop being so mean to him. The mayor says that fushi is his property, and he'll decide what to do with him. He adds that there are a lot of his friends back on the island, too, so he doesn't mind playing "body" with the noks. The noks are a threat to fushi, he says, and the mayor promises to take care of them in a second. He wakes up and tells the mayor that while they were unconscious, he was attacked by a "nokker" in his "left hand." The nokker dragged off his own body, leaving the mayor with no choice but to drink some of his favorite liquor.
