In this chapter, we learn that Hirofumi is now living in the city of Yokohama, and that he and his friend, Gugu, have returned to Yokohama. Hirofumi asks Gugu if he would like to return to the town of Tachibana, and Gugu replies that he does not want to return, since it is not a good place to live. He tells Hirofumi that the inter-national uprooter alliance is trying to remove all the roots that he planted in the town, and he says that there is nothing wrong with the roots, since they have stopped growing. He then goes on to say that he is not going back to Yokohama because it is a bad place, but because he is going to leave within a year.
