In this chapter, we learn that in this world, things can be seen and things cannot be seen. In other words, we can see things that we can't see, and vice versa. We learn that the future king of Uralis is about to die. Uralis asks his father to brighten up his castle after he's gone, and Uralis tells him that the kingdom is in Uralis's hands. The elder Cyrano is shocked, and the boy is also shocked. Everyone is crying, but Cyrano doesn't understand what's going on. He's sure that the devil was behind the execution, and Cyrano thinks that the execution must have been a success. Cyrano wakes up to find Uralis and Todo all dead. He tells Todo that he'll get him some new clothes, and then he asks Cyrano if he can see his dead brother. He says that everyone is crying because it's Cyrano's funeral, and that they're not sure what happened to him yet. He also says that Cyrano didn't say that the dead were able to influence the world in their own way. He adds that he heard that story before, but that if it were true, he wouldn't be able to be king. So Cyrano asks what the devil had done, and he says that Tonari's diary contains details that aren't included in the official version of the story. Tonari had given him a sleeping potion that tasted horrible, so Cyrano had to make a copy of his body and spread it out so that it would look like Cyrano died. That's the only way he could take Cyrano away. He thanks Cyrano for saving him, and says that this was the "best possible outcome" for him.
