As Hayase's granddaughter, Fushi has taken charge of the "squad" that has been formed to protect her from the "monsters" that inhabit the town. He tells her that even though Hayase is her grandfather, she does not seem to be a threat to the town because she is a "nokker" , a creature that inhabits the body of a dead person. He says that even if he does not destroy the noks, they will return to him.
