About This Chapter
The narrator begins this chapter by saying that most people around him say that he's perfect. But after he starts junior high, he realizes that he doesn't have everything. He has a perfect friend, a perfect trophy, and eternal youth. He's not perfect because he wants to be a trophy, but because he needs to find the time to be perfect. He wants eternal youth because he'll be an average person when he gets older. He hopes that someday someone will turn him on his head and make him realize that he has a bad person sighing. The narrator then asks hanna if she's close friends with the girl who is hated by him. She says no, but that she'll have more things that weigh her down if she grows up. She tells him that they're moving next month, and he tells her that he said he'd be happy to be the new leader of the house. hanna says that's a good thing, because her mother won't let it happen. She also says that her father and sister both love her, and they asked her to help find her. She's so happy that she wants to do her hair for her.
