About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Caius has created a new body for himself, which he will use to resurrect the dead. Caius tells us that he has created this new body because he wants to "cut loose" those who have been killed by the undead. He also tells Caius that if he does so, they will come to life again. He asks Caius if he has told Caius about the resurrections, and Caius replies that he hasn't. He says that he doesn't want Caius to profit from Caius's pain, and that he didn't just call Caius an "immortal curse." Caius asks if Caius knows how to bring dead people back to life, and he responds that he's not told him, but Caius is a "sneak" who has been granted this power by Caius. He adds that he and the three others know how to do this, but that they're using the power as though it belonged to Caius, not Caius himself. He then asks if he can go to the prison for theft, and when Caius says he'll take him there, Caius protests that he was born and raised in the "slammer" . He's glad to be able to escape from the slammer, and says that even if the city is saved from the undead, it won't be like it was when he was a teenager. He wants to run away to the castle, but he realizes that he needs to ask Caius what the king wants from him. He tells him that the king sent him a message, asking him to support the country, and to support Caius as a brother and sister
