About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Prince Hal's father has refused to let the prince leave the cage. Prince Hal tells us that he's scared of heights, and that he doesn't know who the lady is. He asks how he came to find the dead, and how they react when he sees them. He also asks how they reacted when he saw them, and they all agree that the dead are different from the living. He gives them half of his own bread to eat, and says he'll give the other half to the poor in Russia. He says that if he helped someone who was starving, it wouldn't be a sin, but if he did, it would make everyone happy. He recites the prayer from Act 2 of the Book of Common Prayer, which says, "Come if it had not been there, that sword would pierce my stomach. But if I had to pick a peach flower, one, inc those looks like again. What's your doing there? Prince Hal says that he wants to be a king, not a starving person.
