About This Chapter
"The Children's Dreams" This chapter opens with a soliloquy by a little boy named Fushi. He tells us that he has a dream in which he takes the forms of people who have died and uses them as weapons against the noks. Fushi says that he wants to be able to defeat these noks on his own. He says that his dream is to become a famous artist. First, he says, they want to get away from the island and find some land where they can live and do what they want. He explains that his father is dead and that his goal is to be a writer on the island. The captain of the boat won't let him use the boat, so Fushi has to build up his strength for tomorrow's final battle. If he wins that battle, he'll get a boat and sail out of here.
