About This Chapter
The monster asks the girl why she won't come home. The girl says she's the victim of the old man's cruelty, and he'll take away her mask for free. The old man is sorry, she says, but she doesn't want her mask to be seen, so she threw it away. She tells the girl that if she sees her scar, she'll think it's okay to hide it, and that's what she'd like to see. She also says that the girl's parents aren't happy with her, and they've hired an art teacher and a needlework instructor to teach her how to do needlework. She says that she wants to be her own person, and her parents don't seem to accept her at all. The only thing she can think of to say is that if the girl had been born in the same family as her father, she would have gotten the scar, too.
