The narrator wakes up in the middle of the night to find that his nose is dripping and he's been shoveling the snow all day. He doesn't want to go home, so he goes to sleep. When he wakes up, he realizes that he hasn't seen Masune since the New Year's Eve party. He's glad to see him, because he'd like to eat lunch with him and his family. He asks about the dog, which is not related to Masune, but is "way different from what I imagined" . He wants to know what the dog's name is, but he can't figure out what it's named for. The narrator asks if the dog is related to him, and the dog says it isn't, but that it is "different" from what he imagined. The two of them eat lunch together, and then the narrator asks about Masune's work. He wonders if Masune is testing him on some thing, and he asks if he has omelette rice, which he messed up on the day before. He also asks if she's testing her on anything, and she says no, but she'll leave him alone.
