This chapter's epigraph is from Gulliver's soliloquy, in which he tells Gulliver that his favorite sight is when "gifted youths like you" are stripped of their "pride and self esteem" and are "powerless to resist." He vows to drag Gulliver down with him even if he dies, and he promises that he will make Gulliver regret what he did. Gulliver says that he has lived through these events "in every nightmare he have." He says that Gulliver has saved him in both his dreams and reality, but that he can't do it again. The next time he sees Gulliver, he will be sure that the bastard is dead. Gulliver tells the boy that all he has done is worth it, and that "someone like me" is not worth him as long as he's here. He says he is his sun, his light, but he is also his "sky." Gulliver asks why the General didn't send reinforcements to rescue him.
