In this chapter, Lan tries to convince Duan not to tell anyone about what has happened. He tells Duan that he is desperate for an opportunity and that he has tried his best to make a life for himself. He says that he does not want anyone to know of his bad side and that there are other opportunities for him, but that he will not be able to help anyone else. He asks Duan to not buy any of the synthetic weapons that Duan has brought with him. He also tells him that he should not tell Duan about what is going on with the Hong family. Lan is disappointed in Duan's tone, but he says that they have both expressed their sincerity in their partnership. He feels that he just got himself another boss.
