The next morning, Ren tells his father that he has made the decision to go to Japan to study. Ren says that when he first told his father about the trip, his father was less angry than before, but now that Ren has told him about it, he doesn't seem to care anymore. Ren asks if there are any ties between the yuesheng family and Ren, and Ren says he's not sure. Ren tells Ren that he first met the man many years ago, when Ren was about his own age. The man was studying to become a teacher and Ren was interested in helping Ren's family business, but Ren didn't want to continue his studies. Ren wants to go abroad to study, but he can't find the money to do so. Ren thinks that Ren tricked him again, and that Ren should go abroad with him.
