About This Chapter
In this chapter, Duan'er explains how he escaped from the Hong Kong mob. He tells the reader that he had gone to Shanghai to pick up some goods from a merchant, but when he arrived at the docks, he heard gunshots and was wounded. He is grateful that he was able to save his life, but he is worried that he will not be able to change his master. He asks the reader if anyone has been chasing him, and if so, who was chasing him yesterday. He also asks if there is anyone who could target him again, since the merchant who brought the goods to the docks has no power to do so. He then asks if he is going to Shanghai in order to do business. He remembers that on the train he met someone who said that he could help people deliver their goods, but now that he thinks about it, he realizes that the price of transportation is determined by the location of the port. He wonders if this man is using his goods as a disguise for his own. He thinks that he must have bribed someone at customs, but then he remembers that the man gave him a business card. If he ever meets this man, he promises to give him an "enormous experience"
