About This Chapter
The old man tells the young man that he has heard that the general sent him to Shanghai to protect him from the rebels. The young man says that he knows the reason for the general sending him here, and that if the general ever needs him, he will be able to do so. He tells the old man to stay in his home for a while, as he has some cargo that needs to be picked up. The man says he will take care of the cargo, but that the provincial governor does not have the power to inspect the cargo. He says that the cargo ship will arrive in a few days and that he will have to wait until then. He is worried about the cargo and says that it is inconvenient for him to be apart of the general. He adds that he can start another campaign, and even become a leader himself. He finally gets rid of the tabloid journalist and asks the man to look at his bill.
