The young man is the assistant manager at the hotel where Yeow's mother died two years ago. The man introduces himself as the son of aya, and Yeow thanks him for staying with them. He tells the young man that it's two years since his mother died, and that he's been trying to learn more about his mother ever since. He says that a man named "miyata" sent his mother's photos, and she looked at them with happiness in her eyes. He asks Yeow if he knows where the man who sent the photos is living now, and he says that the owner of the hotel is called "ryokan," which means "friend." Yeow apologizes for staring at him earlier, but his father is away on an errand.
