In this chapter, we learn that the Governess's feelings for Nemo are very different from those of the rest of the characters in the story. The Governess realizes that she has missed her lover, and she is upset that he is being moody. She tells Nemo that she wants to support him in whatever he wants to do, just as she would support her lover if he were to leave. She reminds him that he must come back to her at any time, no matter where he goes.
