In this chapter, we are introduced to Mr. Albert and his daughter Tanan, who are on their way to a festival in their town. They are accompanied by their mother, who tells them that the festival is a time for the townspeople to pray for a bountiful harvest and peace. Tanan tells his mother that he has not been to the festival in a long time because his father has never won a prize there. He tells her that he wants to go with her to check out a famous shrine.
