In this short scene, Ellen tries to convince Maria not to say no to her proposal of marriage. She tells her that she loves her boss, and that he always makes time for her and moe. She says that she knows that she's being selfish, but that she needs to be selfish too, too, because she needs moe to help her deal with her feelings. She asks Ellen to take things "spaced out" , so that she can be with her lover, and to not be selfish at all. She also tells Ellen that when she sees her boss and his family, she should thank them and bring them back to meet her and her lover. Ellen tells Maria that her father loves her so much that he sulked when she was a teenager and that she should bring her boyfriend back when she comes home.
