Chapter 9 opens with the principal of the school scolding the apprentices for their excessive thinking. He tells them that he has already scolded one of the apprentices, and that he will beat the other one if he tries to do the same thing again. The principal tells the apprentices that they should go out and eat raw rabbits instead of standing in front of the class and being scolded by the other students. He suggests that they bribe the students' friends and relatives to do so.
