About This Chapter
In this chapter, the narrator explains that he is not interested in becoming a famous person. He does not want to be "chased by others" . He wants to be his own person and not be associated with others. He tells the story of the butterfly, which has been growing in popularity. However, due to the heart problems of its lead singer, the group is forced to disband. The narrator explains to the audience that he does not have time or interest in making fun of the health of a person he cares about. He explains that the butterfly is "a girl group" and that no one will be able to find out about the group without physical contact. He says that he has adams apple, which he can cover with accessories, and he wants to help the group, but he cannot do this because of the damage that will be done to the group's image if it is exposed. He also explains that when the lead singer's heart problem is overcome, the mission of the group will be over. He adds that he will be admitted to a high school in a month and that he needs to study. He asks if the butterfly will still exist when the singer comes back, and the narrator replies that it will not. He then explains that if the singer does not come back, his work will be finished. He will go pick up the singer and return the next day
