Because of the smoke, the sky is always dim. The demon steals the chicken that they eat, and cang tells him not to hit him. He tells him that he is not a deity, a ghost, or a demon, and that there are no human lineages. He says that they are living in a cave, and he is the only person who can maintain human form for longer than a day.
