This chapter opens with the sound of a cat's voice coming from the kitchen. It's the voice of a brat who hasn't been able to find his mate. The cat is all, "Gee, what's wrong with you? Is it because you're not getting laid?" The cat asks where he's from and what his name is. He also asks where his twin tails come from and how he can speak in a language other than human. He's a "spirit cat" , he tells us, and he can communicate in human language. He tells the cat that he can either stay and work for him, or he can die. Either way, he says, he'll stay and help him out. He gives the cat a big hug and tells him to take it away. He says that he won't let the cat hug him for this class, since he is so excited. He then tells the boy to bring the cat to an infirmary. The boy says that the cat is too excited to be scared.
