About This Chapter
It's been a long time since we've heard from the narrator, but he's finally ready to tell us all about his life. He's still stuck in the past, and everyone thinks that he should be happy because he'll make others happy, even if he dies. The narrator admits that he was never happy in his life, and that's because everyone thinks he should have hopes and a future. He also admits that his inner strength is much greater than that of his sister-in-law, who has so many butterflies fluttering in her head. This is the noise that comes to her mind when she's in her lowest point, the narrator says, and he can't imagine what it was like to be in her place before this moment. He says that in her point of view, this moment is like a happy dream, just like the one she and her sister had when they were young. He doesn't even want to eat or feel hungry, because the liquid inside of him is so strong that it makes him feel like he is trapped in a giant vacuum. He feels so hungry that he wants to eat something, even though he knows it's impossible to do so. He starts to panic, thinking that he will lose control of himself if he eats something. Finally, he calms down enough to say, "come on, eat me."
