About This Chapter
In this short scene, the Governess and her sister are in the middle of a conversation. The Governess asks her sister if she's okay, and she says that she is. She tells her sister that they have to get out of the building, because it's tilting. She's worried that the building won't hold up for long. She says that if something happens to her, she'll feel guilty, and that's why she wants her sister to leave. She also tells her that if she keeps being like this, she will only feel "pimplyness" . She adds that she has always wanted to be happy, but she knows that there's no hope for her, because she can't even hear her sister's negative speech. She screams and curses, saying that she will never listen to anyone else's bad speech. The only thing she can see, she says, is that she doesn't have hope.
