In this chapter, we learn that the Lans have secretly transferred all of Caius's assets to Caius, and that Caius is using the money to settle his lawsuit against Caius. Caius asks his father to bring back a token of his mother's property, and Caius agrees to do so if Caius will guarantee that he will win the lawsuit.
