The scene opens with a conversation between the Governess and Mr. Roberts. The Governess complains that she can't make any food because she's half-blood and half-vampire. She says that it's "normal" for her to think her blood is "unclean" , but she doesn't think hers is either. She makes him some beef patties and tells him to eat them. He's so impressed that he's willing to eat the whole thing. He tells her that he saw some beef in the market place and that's why he made the patties. He also says that the smell of the meat reminds him of the wilderness. He asks where the weakling is in the morning, and he hears the voice of a vampire talking to him.
