In this chapter, we learn that Bai li, a representative of the clan of werewolves, has made a public declaration of war on the vampires. He is worried that this will revive the hostility between the two groups. He tells us that he has not put up much of a fight with the vampires, and that now it is time for change. Bai li tells him that he should stay home and not go out. He also tells him not to hang around outside, as it looks like there is something big going on. He says that he just received word from deylan that he is trying to turn public opinion against the vampires and that they should set out a press release as soon as possible. He adds that there is already an anti-vampire movement going on in many places, and he is afraid that there will be an actual fight between them.
