The scene opens with a flashback to the tavern scene in which the three knights are talking. The narrator tells the audience that he and the others were at the tavern when they ran into Edmund, who had stolen an ancient dragon egg. Edmund had used the egg to take over the canton and clear out the citizens, and he had then killed the holy knights who were guarding it. Edmund is now the leader of the knights, and the narrator tells him that the egg he ate is a fake. Edmund says that he is not a bandit, but that the other knights shun him. The three knights wonder why Edmund ate the egg, and they decide to use it to their advantage.
