About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Don Pedro and his band of foot soldiers are planning to rob travelers in the countryside. They've got a plan: they're going to steal the weapons of the travelers and sell them off as slaves. Don Pedro is all, "Gee, I'm sure my mom's crying in heaven right now, so I'll just run away from her again." He's not the only one in the group who has given up on his dream of becoming a knight. Edmund is also in the same boat, and he tells Don Pedro that his line of work is more lucrative than the knight's. The two of them agree that they've taken the travelers' money and belongings, and they'll use it to buy their way out of the country. Edmund says that he's just like Don Pedro, and that he gave up his dream to become a highwayman. He says that his job is easier than the holy knight, but that he has a powerful ally in his side. He tells Edmund to grab his friends and do something to them, and Edmund says, "You've changed, man, I haven't." Edmund says he doesn't know what he did, but he hopes Don Pedro realizes that something's wrong. He wants to get back at Don Pedro for all the money he stole from the travelers.
