The chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the book, when the ghost of Samsara tells the story of how he and the others were able to gather spiritual power. Samsara explains that he has been waiting for the opportunity to destroy his master. He tells the flashback that he and his companions have been secretly gathering spiritual power for the past seven years. He says that they have been able to do so because they have "hundred ghosts soul binder" . He also tells Samsara that he knows how to "hell binding holy skill" , which means that he can bind the souls of those who have died in hell. He asks Samsara if he still thinks he can leave, and Samsara says that he does not, but that he will go back to his master, the great master, who will rule the three worlds of samsara.
