In this short scene, we are introduced to the protagonist of the novel, a young man who has just returned from a business trip. The protagonist is in a panic because his manager, hyunjin, has not spoken to him in a long time. He asks the director of the company to borrow his cell phone so that he can talk to the manager alone. The director, however, does not have a cell phone, so the protagonist is left alone with chun, the company's manager. chun tells the protagonist that he has brought everything he asked for, including the fabric balls that the company had ordered for the party. Coincidentally, this is the same day that the protagonist's last meeting with the company manager was held. . After chun leaves, the protagonist tells the director that he is so happy to be alone with the manager that he thinks he heard the manager say something. He wonders if it is the smell of cologne that makes the manager so happy. The manager tells him that if the company is not happy with the party, they can change the party back to its original plan, but add a touch of "ba-buff bearing fruit" and "blooming flowers" to make the party more elegant. After the protagonist thanks the director for his fine work, the director says that he cannot sleep because he is stressed out.
