About This Chapter
The next morning, the narrator returns to his office to find that the salary report has come out. He is glad to be back at work, but he is worried about his upcoming meeting with the director. He asks if the meeting is going well, and the narrator says that it is. He tells the director that he is sorry that he broke up with her, but that he will do his best to make her happy. The director says that he has been busy preparing for the meeting, and he asks the narrator if he is done with the preparation. The narrator says he is, and then asks the director if he has had any lunch or dinner in the last two days. The man says that the director has been eating too much, and that he does not want to repeat this behavior. He also asks if he should drop the director off at his office, as it feels like a lifetime ago.
