About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he knew the man wasn't "perfect" for him, but he didn't want to admit it to anyone. He says that he learned the hard lesson, but that it doesn't matter because there are no one in the world who can "meet all my needs" . The narrator asks the director if he's heard from the president of his company. The director says that the president just returned from an overseas trip, and he'll need to check out the company's "blue print" before he can write a report on the incident. He tells the director to write a message to his secretary, and then he tells her to send him a message back. He's going to send her a text message, and she'll reply back with a message of her own. He asks her if she has time to write him another message. She says that she's had a meeting with the head of her department, and that he hates her. She tells him that he came to the company the same year that he did, and no one there to teach him anything. The head of the company is more enlightened, he says, and works hard to develop the new employees. He also tells the narrator that the company has been invited to a korean launch, and the manager was going to hire him to head the launch, but the manager recommended that the director stay on as the director. He thanks the director for giving him more time to do his work.
